I had been racking my brain what I could put by this bare wall right inside the living room. It had to be something skinny that would stand upright. Light bulb! I thought of this ladder I had seen numerous times up in the attic. It was nailed to the floor and to the rafters, and was obviously used to go out on the roof through a trap door. (I love old houses!!) Anyway, with the new roof there was no trap door, so no use for the ladder up there. With the help of hammer and crowbar, out it came! I ended up adding another rung to the top with an old piece of wood from my mother-in-law's attic. Thanks Arlene! There is something about attics that makes the wood weather to a lovely dark color over a long period of time.
